Dvin, with its approximately thousand-year history, is one of the most significant and relatively well-studied cities of Armenia. Man has settled on the territory of the city since ancient times. The capital Dvin was built during the reign of the Armenian king Khosrow Kotak (330-338), in 335. The city became the new capital of Armenia under the leadership of the Arshakuni (royal dynasty). In a short period of time, the population of the capital reached 100 thousand. The city had two layers of protective walls, temples, and towers.
