The institution has already become a permanent fixture in the landscape of cultural institutions in the city of Poznań. It has existed for more than 165 years. It is here that the famous and unique in this part of Europe obelisk of Ramses II is located, it is also here that one can see a real Egyptian mummy, the famous oxen from Bytynia and many other interesting monuments from Wielkopolska and Africa. Research in Wielkopolska and Africa are the main profiles of the Museum's activities. We also do not forget about the archaeology of Poznań, initiating and participating in many projects important for the study of the early city. We are a museum institution, oriented towards contact with a wide and demanding public, disseminating the achievements of our science and popularising knowledge.

Mumia tajemniczej damy razem z trumną i kartonażem trafiła do Warszawy w 1826 r. i została przekazana przez Jana Wężyka-Rudzkiego Królewskiemu Uniwersytetowi Warszawskiemu. W 1918 r. obiekt przekazano w depozyt Muzeum Narodowemu w Warszawie, gdzie znajduje się do dziś. Choć w latach 20. XX wieku odczytano hieroglify na sarkofagu jednoznacznie wskazujące na jej właściciela – kapłana Hor-Dżehutiego, podczas prac prowadzonych od 2015 r. w ramach Warsaw Mummy Project ustalono, że w sarkofagu ewidentnie znajdują się szczątki kobiety. W czasie wykładu badacze biorący udział w projekcie – antropolożka Marzena Ożarek-Szilke oraz dr Wojciech Ejsmond odkryją przed słuchaczami tajemnice ukryte pod bandażami mumii oraz opowiedzą o całym procesie badań nieinwazyjnych tego typu obiektów.

The mummy of the mysterious lady, together with the coffin and the carton, arrived in Warsaw in 1826 and was donated by Jan Wężyk-Rudzki to the Royal University of Warsaw. In 1918, the object was placed on deposit with the National Museum in Warsaw, where it remains to this day. Although hieroglyphs on the sarcophagus were read in the 1920s unambiguously pointing to its owner, the priest Hor-Dżehuti, during work carried out by the Warsaw Mummy Project since 2015, it was established that the sarcophagus evidently contains the remains of a woman. During the lecture, the researchers involved in the project - anthropologist Marzena Ożarek-Szilke and Dr Wojciech Ejsmond - will reveal to the audience the secrets hidden under the mummy's bandages and talk about the entire process of non-invasive research of such objects.

16-18 czerwca 2023 r. – gra rodzinna „Na tropie Tajemniczej Damy”
Zabawa ma charakter detektywistycznej wędrówki po salach i korytarzach naszego Muzeum.
Uczestnicy podczas zwiedzania Muzeum, wykonują zadania związane z prezentowanymi
ekspozycjami – stałą „Śmierć i życie w starożytnym Egipcie” oraz czasową „Mumia
Tajemniczej Damy. Studia i perspektywy”. Poznając zabytki, rozwiązują różnorodne zagadki
tematyczne, liczą, rysują, czytają, odszyfrowują wiadomości z przeszłości, ćwiczą swoją
spostrzegawczość etc.
Udział w grze wymaga zakupy biletów wstępu do Pałacu Górków w piątek oraz w niedzielę.
W sobotę wstęp i udział w zabawie jest bezpłatny. Gra odbywa się bez zapisów i jest
adresowana do rodzin z dziećmi i uczestników indywidualnych. Formularze będą dostępne w
kasie biletowej Muzeum w godzinach otwarcia Muzeum. Początek gry na dziedzińcu Pałacu

16-18 June 2023 - family game "On the trail of the Mysterious Lady".
The game takes the form of a detective wandering through the halls and corridors of our Museum.
While visiting the Museum, participants perform tasks related to the presented
exhibitions - the permanent 'Death and Life in Ancient Egypt' and the temporary 'The Mummy of the Mysterious Lady.
Mysterious Lady. Studies and Perspectives'. While learning about the monuments, they solve various riddles
thematic puzzles, they count, draw, read, decipher messages from the past, exercise their
perceptiveness, etc.
Participation in the game requires the purchase of tickets to Górków Palace on Friday and Sunday.
On Saturday, admission and participation in the game is free. The game takes place without registration and is
addressed to families with children and individual participants. Forms will be available at
Museum ticket office during opening hours. Start of the game in the courtyard of Pałac
Górków Palace. The game is available in 3 languages: Polish, English and Ukrainian.
